The honor of your presence is kindly requested for the dedication of
two recently delivered vehicles, Fairfield County Field Com 1 and Haz Mat 1.
These two brand new state of the art response vehicles were the culmination of many hours of hard work by Fairfield County Hazardous Materials Unit members with the assistance and financial support of the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and the United States Department of Homeland Security.
In existence as a regional organization for over 24 years, the Fairfield County Hazardous Materials Unit has been at the forefront of regional hazardous materials response and has served as a template for many of the recently established regional response units throughout the State of Connecticut.
Unit Chairman Fire Chief Christopher G. Ackley would like to share this proud moment in our organizations history with the many public officials who have supported our very important organization over our twenty four years of existence.

Public Safety WMD Response - Sampling Techniques and Guidelines

Description
The Public Safety WMD Response - Sampling Techniques and Guidelines course prepares Hazardous Materials (HazMat) teams within state, county/parish, and municipal emergency response agencies to safely and effectively conduct public safety operations at WMD incidents. This performance-level course provides detailed technical information and includes hands-on practice of actions required of emergency responders in such situations. These operations are consistent with crime scene/evidentiary guidelines established by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Training is provided by Louisiana State University NCBRT
Primary Audience
The primary audience for this course includes emergency responders as well as supervisors or managers responsible for developing policies and procedures governing emergency responder actions during WMD terrorist incidents. This audience should come from law enforcement, fire service, hazardous material, and public health.
Modules Covered
Module 1: Welcome, Introduction, and Administration
Module 2: Public Safety WMD Response Overview
Module 3: Site Survey and Sampling Techniques
Module 4: Practical Skills and Exercise
Module 5: Testing and Administration
Prerequisites
Participants should be able to provide verification of the following:
? Successful completion of a WMD awareness-level training course
? Assignment to a supervisory position or a position responsible for development and delivery of training focused on responding to a WMD incident or the development of departmental policies and procedures governing the actions of emergency responders during WMD incidents
? Current HazMat technician-level certification
? Respiratory medical clearance for wearing Level C PPE (per 29 CFR 1910.134)
? Demonstrate a "need-to-know" job function required to support, supervise, and/or work with individuals responsible for collecting, receiving, or processing samples from a contaminated environment qualifies participant at a secondary level
? Government-issued identification card
? Familiarity with biological and chemical agents (recommended

ICS300 - Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

Course Description:
The Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the ICS. The course expands upon information covered in the ICS 100 and ICS 200 courses.
Training is provided by the Center of Domestic Preparedness.
Target Audience/Disciplines:
Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management Agency, Fire Service, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), Public Works, Government Administrative, Public Safety Communications, Health Care, and Public Health
Prerequisites:
ICS 300 is designed for candidates that have also successfully completed the ICS 100 <https://cdp.dhs.gov/mobile/ics100.html> and ICS 200 <https://cdp.dhs.gov/mobile/ics200.html> courses offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). Command or General Staff experience is recommended.
